Charity

When Amira was only 7 years old, during one of the visits to her grandmother in South Africa, her mother took her to the township Ikageng in Potchefstroom (2 hours from Johannesburg). Seeing the children there touched Amira enormously, as they didn’t have anything to do or to play with. Amira decided that, if she would ever get the chance, she would help these children and started dreaming about building the children of Ikageng their own playground.

The kickoff of Amira’s own charity project takes place in the spring holiday of 2014, when she visits South-Africa for her very first international performance during the RMB Starlight Classics Concerts. Amira donates part of her revenue from these concerts to realize her dream for the children of Ikageng.

In November 2014, Amira’s charity organization, the Gelukskinders Foundation is established in order to support maintenance of the first playground and further development of her charity project. In August 2016 Amira opens the second playground, and a third one is finalized in January 2017.

In June 2017, the fourth playground is opened in Promosa, near Potchefstroom in South Africa. Below video shows the opening ceremony and the happy children enjoying a playground for the first time in their lives.
